It is by no means exhaustive, but I have found most of the other available toolkits to be more or less duplicates of those listed here; there are numerous clones of the <em>RPGMaker<\/em> out there, for instance. You can find links to far more extensive lists\u00a0<a href=\"\/?page_id=70\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I also did not include the different mod creation toolkits for modern commercial titles like the <em>Elder Scrolls<\/em> or <em>Neverwinter Nights<\/em> series; they are usually not meant to create classical CRPGs, they often require larger teams to produce substantial content since maps for modern 3D engines take vastly more effort to create, and they get enough coverage as is.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Hosted Editors<\/h3>\n<p>These programs are, to the best of my knowledge, not found anywhere else on the net. They&#8217;re free to use.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/?page_id=225\">Dark Disciples II<\/a> &#8211; A hidden gem. Not as powerful as <em>RPGMaker<\/em>, but has the best map\/level\u00a0editor I know of.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Free Editors<\/h3>\n<p>Other RPG creation toolkits which are free to use.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/?page_id=283\">Adventure Creation Kit (ACK)<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0The easiest to use of these programs; designed to create an experience akin to <em>Ultima V<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/?page_id=308\">DarkDale (WIP)<\/a> &#8211; Aims to combine the exploration experience of <em>Legend of Grimrock<\/em> with <i>Ultima<\/i>-like conversation and roleplaying depth. Looks very promising.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/?page_id=312\">DungeonCraft<\/a> &#8211; Based upon SSI&#8217;s <em>Unlimited Adventures<\/em>, this toolkit offers step-by-step 3D and <em>Advanced Dungeons &amp; Dragons<\/em> game rules.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/?page_id=310\">IceBlink Engine<\/a> &#8211; A new creation kit with an advanced conversation tree constructor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Commercial Editors<\/h3>\n<p>As you can guess, these are\u00a0not free. In exchange, they offer smooth interfaces and better technical support.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/?page_id=297\">Legend of Grimrock II<\/a> &#8211; A heir to the classic <i>Dungeon Master<\/i>, this game expands on the dungeon crawling concept by including lovely outdoor landscapes, height maps and other features.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/?page_id=314\">RPGMaker<\/a> &#8211; By far the most flexible toolkit for CRPG creation.
